"We’re very excited to be turning over the first completed space to Westfield. Despite some unforeseen changes and general surprises associated with a remodel, we did not have to push occupancy. We’re truly proud of all of the hard work that has been done by OCP to ensure this project is on-time and on budget. ”

Westfield Insurance, the single largest employer in Medina County, is investing $70 million in renovations and new construction to their corporate headquarters located in Westfield, OH. The company, originally founded in 1848, by a small group of Ohio farmers has seen continued business growth prompting an overhaul of the current corporate campus, including a new addition, improvements to parking, and renovations to the pre-existing structures. The breadth of work is spread over 10 building structures.
Lead by Turner Construction, the project will be completed in 15 phases with much of the construction focused on renovating the existing campus, whose oldest building was originally constructed in 1954. The two-year construction project intends to preserve as much historical architecture as possible, while also designing new spaces to mimic the historical design of the original campus. As is true of most renovations, the ability to navigate through the unknowns of older construction was paramount to the overall success of the project. OCP’s expertise in renovations and highly-skilled team of tradespeople made the contractor an ideal partner for the extensive project.
As a pinnacle team member, OCP has worked diligently to maintain budget and schedule despite unforeseen changes brought about due to conditions discovered during renovations. A great deal of skill and attention was paid to preserving iconic pieces within the original structure such as columns and ornate wall coverings. Additionally, aspects of innovation were integrated into the project such as the use of BASWA Phon Sound Absorbing Acoustical Plaster to mitigate unwanted noise caused by hard surfaces and high traffic.
To consistently maintain schedule, OCP prefabricated construction materials when possible. The off-site prefabrication of materials allows for materials to be quickly installed on-site without sacrificing quality or safety.
Additionally, a great deal of flexibility has been employed to complete construction without substantially disrupting the business’ daily operations. Aside from erecting temporary walls, the construction crews on the job site have also maintained a high level of professionalism so as not to disrupt the work of Westfield employees.
Of the current progress on-site Taurean Spratt of Turner Construction stated “We’re very excited to be turning over the first completed space to Westfield. Despite some unforeseen changes and general surprises associated with a remodel, we did not have to push occupancy. We’re truly proud of all of the hard work that has been done by OCP to ensure this project is on time and on budget.”
As the Contractor of Choice in Northeast Ohio, OCP continually strives to be a valuable team member working towards the common goal of a successfully completed project alongside all other trades. Through innovative processes and a team of highly-skilled trades and office people, OCP consistently delivers on time and on budget projects, presenting clients with nothing short of excellent work.
