OCP’s Employees of Choice are individuals who exemplify the qualities and characteristics that have made our 50 years of success possible. Employees of Choice are employees in the field and office who lead by action to advance safety, productivity, and innovation on projects. Additionally, these employees are consistent, dependable, and contribute to the betterment of the team. Thanks to the hard work of these individuals, OCP has proudly become the interior Contractor of Choice.

Matt Ciha

  • Position: Drywall Finisher
  • Industry Tenure: 35 Years
  • Length of Employment with OCP: 20 Years

  • What is your favorite project you have worked on?
  • Toledo Hospital, the first floor. The first floor had round soffits and radius beads which were very different from your average square room. It was a great project to work on, so close to home. We had an awesome team assembled which made the project fun to go to.
  • What advice would you give a new employee?
  • Work hard, be on time and don’t miss work for non-emergency reasons. If you miss work, you will not be around long.
  • Before working at OCP, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

  • I was a gas attendant where you had to pump the gas for the customer. Unfortunately, the younger generation will not be able to experience that type of service.

Adrian Strawn

  • Position: Apprentice Carpenter
  • Industry Tenure: 1 Year
  • Length of Employment with OCP: 1 Year

  • What is your favorite aspect of your job?
  • Being able to broaden my knowledge of construction. Always learning a new technique or process to be more efficient in my role.
  • What brought you to the construction industry and what made you stay?

  • My dad, uncle, and grandfather influenced my decision to join the union as they were tradesman as well. I enjoy my work. I am able to create something from nothing.
  • What is your favorite project?
  • Heart Vascular in Reynoldsburg was my favorite job because I was able to expand my skill sets which wasn’t available at other jobs.

Manuel Maldonado

  • Position: Drywall Apprentice

He continuously goes above and beyond to make sure the job is not only completed but finished to OCP’s standard of high quality.   • How did you get involved in construction?
  • My brother got me involved with the trades.

  • Where are you from?
  • My family moved from Mexico to Texas ten years ago and then we moved to Lorain.
  • What is your favorite part of the industry?
  • The opportunity for continuous learning.
  • What are your favorite hobbies?
  • Watching sports.
  • Who inspires you?
  • My father, he is 72 years old and still an incredibly hard worker.
