OCP’s Employees of Choice are individuals who exemplify the qualities and characteristics that have made our 50 years of success possible. Employees of Choice are employees in the field and office who lead by action to advance safety, productivity, and innovation on projects. Additionally, these employees are consistent, dependable, and contribute to the betterment of the team. Thanks to the hard work of these individuals, OCP has proudly become the interior Contractor of Choice.

Ray Urban

  • Position: Plasterer
  • Length of Employment with OCP: 11 Years
  • Industry Tenure: 23 Years

Ray’s coworkers are always talking about his hard work and helpful attitude he is an amazing role model and always goes out of his way to encourage the people around him.   • What has been the highlight of your career in construction?
  • I enjoy a new environment that's never the same day as yesterday. I enjoy working outside.
  • What hobbies do you have outside of work?
  • Fishing, hunting, and hanging out with family.
  • What advice would you give a new employee?
  • Show up every day and give your 100% each day. Don’t be afraid to ask questions.

Tim Loomis

  • Position: Carpenter
  • Length of Employment with OCP: 5 Years
  • Industry Tenure: 17 Years

“Tim is a reliable Carpenter that shows up every day eager and ready to work. He is solid in all areas of carpentry from exterior framing to ceiling grid, and all areas in between. Tim is a valuable asset to have on any job.”- Tom Kotol, Superintendent

  • What hobbies do you have outside of work?
  • I played guitar with a rock band previously and now more recently I am in a church band. I enjoy outdoor activities as well, like hunting and hanging out with family.
  • What do you like about OCP?
  • OCP is a fair and laid-back atmosphere. I appreciate the transparency of expectations. Previously worked for companies that did not respect me or knew my name. Here, the superintendent knows my name and value my work.
  • What encouraged you to work with OCP originally?
  • Kevin Potts originally had spoken with me to join the team, and I knew other employees who worked here. The job site was close to my home as well.

Derek Hasenbalg

  • Position: Carpenter
  • Length of Employment with OCP: 2 Years
  • Industry Tenure: 6 Years

"Derek is one of our most improved apprentices to date. Over the past few years, he has really stepped up his game. Derek, along with others, volunteered to help out the team in Columbus this past summer where he did a great job and really made a difference. He has turned into one of my most reliable apprentices and soon journeyman. Thanks for all your hard work and keep pushing on to be the best you." - Chris Gunderman, Superintendent

  • What brought you to the construction industry and what made you stay?
  • I enjoy working with my hands and I just knew that I would end up in the trades since high school. I took a vocational course in high school and knew it would be a great career choice.
  • What hobbies do you have outside of work?
  • Hunting, fishing, hanging out with friends and playing Xbox.
  • Where’s your favorite place in the world?
  • Tennessee, my grandparents are originally from TN. I love the mountain views. I have great family memories in TN.
