OCP’s Employees of Choice are individuals who exemplify the qualities and characteristics that have made our 50 years of success possible. Employees of Choice are employees in the field and office who lead by action to advance safety, productivity, and innovation on projects. Additionally, these employees are consistent, dependable, and contribute to the betterment of the team. Thanks to the hard work of these individuals, OCP has proudly become the interior Contractor of Choice.

Frankie Quintero

  • Position: Journeyman Carpenter
  • Industry Tenure: 7 Years
  • Length of Employment with OCP: 7 Years

"Frankie comes ready to work each and every day. No matter what assignment he is given he strives to complete his work with speed and quality craftsmanship. If something needs done Frankie is the right guy for the job. He excels on long term projects, leaving a big impact on the bottom line and the quality of work that OCP clients are accustomed to.   • What would you tell someone interested in joining the construction industry?
  • It's a great experience, there is a lot to learn. The team consists of many great guys doing a lot of hands-on work that helps build your future.
  • What do you like most about working in the construction industry?
  • I like working with my hands, creating buildings, new projects and meeting people.
  • What hobbies do you have outside of work?
  • Watching sports such as soccer, my favorite team is Liverpool.
  • Who inspires you?
  • Toby Baker, he has taught me a lot of great things and I look up to him.
  • What is your favorite place in the world?
  • Mexico, my hometown, Cerritos, San Luis Potosí. I love going back. Hopefully, I will go back soon.
  • What do you value most about OCP?
  • Their values of safety and timeliness.

Fernando Marquez

  • Position: Carpenter Apprentice
  • Industry Tenure: 1 Year 4 Months
  • Length of Employment with OCP: 1 Year 4 Months

"Fernando came to work with us from the ACG’s Draft Day event last year. He has proven to be a poster child for how this program works. He is becoming a great carpenter. He puts 100% into his work every single day. I had an opportunity to spend the day with him last week where we talked about work in great length. During this conversation, he told me how much he enjoys his work and looks forward to it every day. It’s great to hear a young man like him tell me that he likes what he does for a living.   • What brought you to the construction industry and what made you stay?
  • What brought me to the construction industry stems back from my childhood, a long time ago my mother had a kitchen and bathroom remodel on her home. I remember watching them and ever since then I have been interested in building with my hands. It has always intrigued me since I was young and always been something I wanted to do.
  • What hobbies do you have outside of work?
  • My hobbies outside of work consist of fishing, playing basketball, enjoying the outdoors and taking adventures to new places.
  • What is one thing you would like to learn in the next year with OCP?
  • I would like to learn how to do ceiling grids and continue to better myself each day. Ceiling grids have always interested me, I have always been curious about how to create them.

Bruce Slusher

  • Position: Carpenter
  • Industry Tenure: 1 Year 2 Months
  • Length of Employment with OCP: 16 Years

  • What brought you to the construction industry and what made you stay?
  • I got into the industry young at 19, my brother was a carpenter at the time and he asked me if I wanted to go to work with him and I did. I fell in love with it, I like working with my hands and the people I work with.
  • Who would you most like to swap places with given a chance for a day?
  • One of the apprentices since there is an opportunity to learn from other journeymen. You have the opportunity to learn things even I haven't in 16 years being an apprentice.
  • What do you value most about OCP?
  • OCP is a great outfit, they really care about their men, that's why they are so safety-driven. They give opportunities to everyone coming in. OCP has great supporting programs, we are getting ready to go on a trip to the zoo. Our field superintendents will go into the field and talk to everyone. They get really personal with you, that is what makes them an excellent company to work for.
