OCP’s Employees of Choice are individuals who exemplify the qualities and characteristics that have made our 50 years of success possible. Employees of Choice are employees in the field and office who lead by action to advance safety, productivity, and innovation on projects. Additionally, these employees are consistent, dependable, and contribute for the betterment of the team. Thanks to the hard work of these individuals, OCP has proudly become the interior Contractor of Choice.

Barb Betz

“Barb is a ceiling expert who has been with us for over 30 years. Barb’s highly skilled and dependable; never missing work. Most importantly, Barb pioneered being a female carpenter for OCP, at a time that was likely very tough.” - Jeff Feller, Toledo Superintendent

What is your favorite aspect of your job?

My favorite aspect of the job is starting a new project and being part of the completion process. Every new job has a different challenge to it.

What would you tell another person interested in joining the industry?

Not only is it a good paying job with good benefits, but there are opportunities to advance into different positions such as foreman, field superintendent, and project manager.

What do you value most about OCP?

OCP’s reputation as a well known, quality contractor that has some of the best men and women working for them.

What is your favorite aspect of your job?

Being able to provide for my family. I have a handful of kids. Not two handfuls, just one. Five kids, three boys and two girls.

What brought you to the construction industry and what made you stay?

Just being able to make better money than where I was working originally.

What is your favorite project you have worked on?

The Hollywood Casino down in Columbus. I liked the hanging of the soffits above the cashier stations, it was neat.

What hobbies do you have outside of work?

I fish and have a little bit of a farm. I have three cows and a few horses on the farm.

What’s one unique thing about you that you would want a coworker to know?

I can’t think of anything too different really. I’m left handed, but that’s not much different. They say you live 7-8 years shorter life when you’re left handed, but I haven’t experienced that yet. Haha.

What hobbies do you have outside of work?

I like to camp and fish. One of my favorite places is the Tennessee Smoky Mountains.

What is your favorite aspect of your job?

I really enjoy seeing the project happen from start to finish. Seeing the complete work and feeling a sense of accomplishment is my favorite aspect.

What is your favorite project you have worked on?

My favorite project was the Church of Resurrect, it was really intricate with a lot of details.
