OCP’s Employees of Choice are individuals who exemplify the qualities and characteristics that have made our 50 years of success possible. Employees of Choice are employees in the field and office who lead by action to advance safety, productivity, and innovation on projects. Additionally, these employees are consistent, dependable, and contribute to the betterment of the team. Thanks to the hard work of these individuals, OCP has proudly become the interior Contractor of Choice.

Matt Schimdtke

  • Position: Carpenter
  • Length of Employment with OCP: 1.5 Years
  • Industry Tenure: 1.5 Years

  • What brought you to the construction industry and what made you stay?
  • My brother in law (another OCP employee) explained the benefits of the trades (pay, benefits, experiences, long term skills, union). I consider myself visual and hands-on learning-oriented, this work was right up my alley.
  • What is your favorite project that you have worked on?
  • Toledo Hospital, I learned a lot. I worked in residential prior to working for OCP. I was paired up with very tenured journeyman which included Nate Valentine and Ron Kristoff. They have been very helpful in my growth. I am having a great experience working for OCP.
  • What hobbies do you have outside of work?
  • I enjoy spending time fishing, disc golf, spending time with my wife, dogs, friends, and playing video games.
  • What is your favorite place in the world?
  • Upper Peninsula of Michigan, the area is quiet and perfect for camping. We have a family cabin up that way.

Andy Smiley

  • What brought you to the construction industry and what made you stay?
  • This profession has bettered my life overall, I am able to do what I love and the pay is great.
  • What hobbies do you have outside of work?
  • I enjoy spending time with my kids.
  • If you could build anything what would it be?
  • A newer house for myself.

Terry Moore SR

  • Position: Carpenter
  • Length of Employment with OCP: 5 Years
  • Industry Tenure: 29 Years
  • "Terry is very safety-minded and keeps productions at the forefront. He helps teach, improve, and guides others. He is more than willing to help run smaller jobs and take more responsibility on large job sites to assist the foreman. Terry has been with OCP for 6 years this month and has been in the carpentry field for over 30 years! Thanks for all you do Terry!" - Jay Waltz, General Superintendent Columbus
  • What brought you to the construction industry and what made you stay?
  • My father was a carpenter and I grew up wanting to follow in his footsteps.
  • What hobbies do you have outside of work?
  • Fishing, taking care of my grandkids, coaching and playing baseball.
  • What advice would you give a new employee?
  • Do you best and take care of yourself so you can come to work every day.
