An exciting new year is upon us in 2018, OCP is celebrating 50 years in business! This is a major milestone in our history. Thank you to all of our employees for making OCP a success.
In February of 1968, Barnard (Barney) Paskiet founded Ohio Ceiling and Partition Company in an old farm house on Central Ave in Toledo, Ohio. Over a short period of time Barney secured enough work to steadily grow and hire new employees. In 1976, OCP secured its first $1M job the Medical College of Ohio (MCO). MCO put OCP on the map as a major interior system contractor capable of building any project in northwest Ohio.
The 80’s propelled OCP’s growth further with projects like Northtown Mall, the 17 story downtown Radisson Hotel, Maumee Bay State Park lodge, Webstrand Office Tower, Trinova World Headquarters, and the 12 story Summit Center. OCP is proud to have completed these signature projects.
Through the 90’s OCP diversified and continued to grow, with the successful creation of our flooring and painting groups. The flooring group completed over 30, 100,000/sf Meijer Stores and several other projects such as the Las Vegas-sized Kalahari Resort, Toledo Hospital, and Renaissance 10 story tower. To date, the paint group’s largest project has been the 1M+/SF Home Depot distribution center. In 1995, OCP was awarded the largest contract in our history for the Owens Corning World Headquarters for over $5M.
With a new diverse catalog of services Ohio Ceiling and Partition was officially changed to OCP Contractors, and the company rebranded. The turn of the millennium brought further changes as OCP grew with geographic expansions into the Cleveland market in 2004 and the Columbus market in 2009. Both of these additions have proven to be very successful and have grown into top tier contractors in each market. The Cleveland office has grown to now be the largest of the three locations, and OCP has grown into Ohio’s largest interior systems contractor.
The OCP portfolio of completed projects continues to be one admired by the industry and a source of pride for employees, families and friends. 2003 brought our first project to top $10M the Franklin Park Mall Addition and Expansion. Then in 2010 we completed our first $15M contract for the Bowling Green State University student housing project.
Our impressive portfolio can be viewed on the new OCP site. Thank you all for your hard work on the projects that have made 50 years possible. I’m excited for what the next 50 years will surely bring with all of your hard work propelling us towards even greater milestones!
