Message to the Team - November 2018

We’re always looking for new ways to improve construction techniques to make our processes safer and more efficient. Through the use of technology, we’re able to serve our clients better and optimize workflow in the field and office.

As you’ve all experienced on the job site and in the office, we’re on the cutting edge of technology in the construction industry through our use of programs and tools like Plexxis, AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, Rhino, and Total Station. We’ve continued to grow our use of BIM not only in precon but also internally to provide greater project coordination. Implementing greater use of technology within OCP has greatly helped our growth. Each of these tools allows us to make educated decisions throughout the construction process, ultimately allowing us to complete projects on time, on budget and to the highest quality.

One of the most exciting technologies we’ve utilized to a high level in 2018 is prefabrication. By precutting and preassembling everything possible before sending it to the job site we are able to complete work more safely and more conveniently in a shop environment.

As we continue to use new technologies as a tool for growth, we’re always thankful for the hard work of each of you in getting new processes successfully implemented. In this month’s Toolbox Talk by Matt Taylor, you’ll learn about our newest technology that will help deliver a better pre-task analysis form.

You’ll also notice that we’ve added a new section to the newsletter highlighting the graduation of our apprentices to journeyman, a great accomplishment that we all know is no simple task. As you see these people in the field, I encourage you to congratulate them.

Thank you all for being an important part of making our 50th year a success. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, as I reflect on what I am thankful for, I find myself thankful for the awesome team at OCP! Happy Thanksgiving!
