Built-in 1885, Lenawee County Courthouse, a Romanesque Revival building, has served as Lenawee County government's seat. The facility is undergoing a major renovation to restore its original character while meeting modern safety and technological conveniences.
Data rooms will be added and tucked away, suspended ceilings removed in public areas, stairwells opened up, and the old courtroom restored to its original design. Krieghoff looked to OCP Contractors for their expertise in restoring historical buildings.
Revitalizing a building of this magnitude requires many tradespeople, including carpenters providing intricate woodwork, painters, plasterers, and refinishers. The OCP team had to strategize and look ahead to manage the project scope within the tight laydown areas. Through close coordination with the general contractor, OCP significantly improved efficiencies.
Along with light gauge framing, insulation, and drywall work scopes, the OCP team installed Armstrong Total Acoustic ceilings within the restrooms, hallways, break rooms, and offices. By installing with toggles, the ceiling was able to be suspended off the existing plaster ceilings.
Government activities are expected to resume in July of 2021.
