The Nestor Hall Auditorium renovation at Columbus State Community College transformed a 1990s-era auditorium into a state-of-the-art performing arts venue, blending technical precision with architectural beauty. The project’s centerpiece, a specialty wood ceiling system featuring decorative wave panels suspended on isolator springs, required meticulous coordination and expert craftsmanship to achieve both form and function. OCP worked closely with an acoustical engineer and multiple trades to integrate complex mechanical and electrical systems, all performed from elevated platforms 16 feet above the floor. Additional high-end finishes, including custom wood grain wall protection, demanded strict environmental controls and careful material handling. Innovative construction methods, such as a temporary dance floor system for equipment support and the use of 14-gauge studs for enhanced structure, contributed to the success of this sophisticated renovation.
