Cedar Point is a 364-acre amusement park located in Sandusky, Ohio. As the most visited seasonal amusement park in the United States, Cedar Point employees 1,000’s of employees every summer. During the course of the season, employees of the park live in dormitories near the property.

When considering a construction team to complete the Cedar Point Dorms, quality and on-time completion to ensure occupancy for the upcoming season were of utmost importance to the owner. OCP’s experience in working with Cedar Point and proven track record for quality made the team ideal to complete the project.

Throughout the course of the project the OCP skilled trades team consistently performed at a high level to complete tasks ahead of estimated schedule.

Double-layer fire rated drywall ceilings under wood roof trusses were completed by OCP carpenters twice as fast as schedule allowed for. Additionally below the fire rated drywall were suspended drywall ceilings in the dorm rooms, again this work was completed under estimated days. OCP’s superior skilled workforce brought a high level of efficiency and experience to consistently exceed scheduling.

When faced with the challenge of installing Rulon ceilings in the restroom and shower areas, OCP developed methods to save time despite difficulty in installation. The ceilings are a linear plastic material that all had to snap together, with multiple penetrations and cuts required to ensure a quality finished aesthetic. Despite unanticipated difficulties, OCP carpenters worked collectively sharing knowledge and experience amongst the team to complete the scope to the expected level of quality.

The Cedar Point Dorms will be home to 100’s throughout the course of the upcoming season and many more to come. The project was successfully completed on-time in April 2019 in anticipation of what’s sure to be another high traffic season at "America's Roller Coast" Cedar Point.
